The Dead Teach the Living
Commissioned for The Munster Sculpture Project, Munster, Germany
June 1997 - October 1997
Seven plaster life and death masks from unidentified individuals in the anatomical collection of the University of Munster medical faculty were scanned, computer modelled and 3-D printed in plastic.
Research on the heads revealed their connection to the teaching of ‘racial hygiene’ and eugenics in the Medical Faculty during the 1930’s and ‘40’s.
